Hi,

Just looking for some information. I visited my doctor for the first time in 2 years today due to a minor flare. I had my medication changed and was put on a lot of stuff I haven't taken before. Any other flare I've had I was put on prednisone but this time I've been given entocort. I have also been switched from Imuran 75mg to 6mp 50mg. The doctor also suspected I have c diff from antibiotics I took a while back and has prescribed flagyl for 5 days.

All of this is completely new to me and my knowledge is a bit rusty after 2 years of good health, so if anyone has some experiences on any of these meds they could share I would appreciate it!

Thank you :)

Entocort is a steriod but is released within the intestines more a topical steriod as opposed to prednisone which is more a systematic steriod in that it is in the blood stream and can effect the entire body. Entocort is supposed to have less side effects.
Imuran and 6mp are in the same class of drugs and both are immunosuppressents so they generally work the same way to control the Crohn's but it is my understanding that 6MP is easier for the body to process something with the thioprines. I'm sure somebody with more knowledge then I will chime in.
My son just had a bout of C-diff over the summer from antibiotics and he took a 5 day course of flagyl which cleared it up.
Hope you get back to good health quickly and have many more years of it.

Thank you for your help :)
Good to hear the flagyl helped your son. C diff was something I was very unfamiliar with until the other day so it's good to hear it cleared up quickly
