*Disclaimer, this is not IBD related*

I follow a fair amount of people on YouTube but one person in particular, Markiplier, seems to do a lot more than just creating entertainment for the masses but also does a lot of charity work and recently made a new video titled "Changing the World." It's about doing more for our own and other communities and it's mainly trying to brainstorm on how to go about making the world a better place.

With the internet we're able to reach people from all over the world and what he's doing and a lot of other people as well (including our own forum) is using the internet to our advantage to help other people. While we help people who suffer from IBD, he's interested in many issues including organizations like the Make a Wish Foundation, having t-shirts made and having the proceeds go towards a specific charity but this video is about doing more. It's about getting people more physically involved in communities through community service. This could range from helping the elderly to volunteering at say a homeless shelter, donating food or clothes, cleaning streets and parks etc (he mentions more in the video around minute 6:20 and talks about a volunteering meetup for a day or weekend).

What he's looking for is if there's an organization out there that can make this sort of vision a reality.

I couldn't think of any off the top of my head but I like the idea of it. I saw some of the comments on his Facebook page and one person mentioned creating a website to help organize it. I liked this idea and suggested using our forum as sort of a guide or template on how it could be structured. Our forum has a local support group function and a live chat function not to mention sections dedicated to News, and helping people online with their personal problems. So I think those would be great things to add for the website if something like this doesn't already exist.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions you can comment on any of his pages personally or you can post your ideas and suggestions here and I will do my best to get them to him (he has almost 9 million followers so it may take a while for him to see any of our replies).

Anyway watch the video and let me what you think. :)

I don't have any ideas, but I think his philosophy and concept is great! So many amazing people in the world. Thank you for sharing.

Things like this happen all over the U.S. There are many organizations that do just what he's asking in some capacity or another. It's really hard to pin down an idea for him without knowing his full background, where he's located, what he's capable of completing based on his own time and financial restraints but he has the right idea. Ask questions and take action.

Those that know me here know that I'm fairly well immersed in my regional volunteer community. Volutneermatch.com is one of the largest places begin the journey to finding local volunteer events. You can also simply Google Search the name of your town/area/region + volunteering and see what pops up. You can also look up data and information here:

http://www.volunteeringinamerica.gov/ has tons of data on volunteerism in the U.S.

It's nice what he is trying to do, but I've been volunteering since I was in high school, 40 years ago, and never had any problem finding groups to volunteer with.

I'm not 100% sure but to me it seems like he wants to start a new organization involving all of his followers/the YouTube community. I think he may be interested in joining a more established one but I think he feels that other people will be less interested if perhaps he's not quite the front runner. I may be interpreting it all wrong but to me it seems like a lot of his followers wouldn't get involved if he wasn't (which in a way is sad but I think he probably realizes this).
