It's always this time of year and may not be ibd related but I can blame crohn's for everything :) damn crohn's!

It's only my knuckles that get really chapped and bleed no matter how much lotion I use. I heard Eucerin is a good one to try. Anyone have suggestions? Prefer natural if possible.

I get the same thing in the winter. Mostly on my legs, but my hands can get pretty gruesome as well. Eucerin does work pretty well, but I have found that Aveeno baby lotion works the best. There are several different lotions that they make for babies, I make sure to get the one with natural colloildal oatmeal in it (yellowish bottle with a dark blue cap) I have used this lotion for years, and out of all the ones I tried, it as worked the best. If you try other brands make sure to stay away from anything with a fragrence, that will burn and just dry out your hands more than they already are.

I don't know about natural, but I have eczema and my skin while not bloody, can sometimes get pretty rashy, red, dry, scaly and a little scabby during the winter. I haven't found anything that works for me but Aveeno. I have been using all the products in that line, body wash, oatmeal bath, face washes, lotions, anti-itch creams and they seem to be the only things that keep my symptoms at bay. Wal-Mart now makes a store-brand version of some of the Aveeno products if price is an issue. Aveeno makes an Intensive Relief product which I use and it helps when I use it twice daily.

I was also recommended CeraVe by my doc. Haven't tried it yet so no reviews but it is supposed to be good as well. I imagine how effective any of them are for any person will depend on how often you use them, how much you expose yourself to the outside elements and how much you are showering.

I've been dealing with chapped hands too. My main stuff is Hydrocortisone 1% especially when they're bad. Hydrocortisone is a bit thicker (most times) too. But, I too have used CeraVe and it worked for awhile till my hands got too bad from this flare and the cold weather.

There's this free sample hand cream I just got at the beauty shop called -417 (minus417) It goes on like butter and lasts a long time. I can definitely see the difference. My hands, especially my knuckles are becoming very dry and chapped each time I go outside not that the season is getting colder. It's worse when I go outside or wash them and then am exposed to colder temperatures. This stuff has done a great job of keeping moisture in these past 24 hours. It has almond oil, olive oil and other natural ingredients.

t definitely doesn't feel like it needs to be reapplied often. I'm going to keep it up as a pocket lotion and see if it has any lasting effect for the winter but so far it feels like a potential winner.

Here's the link for the shop. I wonder if their other products work just as well?

Do you know if its sold offline cc? I feel like I need to put cream on and gloves to keep it moist. I can reapply non stop. Grr.

I got the sample from a Walgreen's flagship store so I assume it is also sold offline. Maybe at Walgreen's, Ulta or store like Sephora or something. Sometimes companies identify somewhere on their web page where exactly you can buy their product. I haven't checked that out though.

The Aveeno with the oatmeal is good - I use my frequent drugstore's (Sobey's / Lawton's - Our Compliments brand) generic / private label "knockoff" that has oatmeal in it it's a bit cheaper. I have been using Jergens over the past few days but I find it greasy.

I find I notice the dry skin and more on my fingertips, they get cracked and I have to put a liquid bandage like New-Skin on them.

Burt's Bees makes a really good hand salve that helps my chapped skin incredibly. Good luck, and go right on blaming Crohn's. We have that right! :)
