Hello everyone, so I was on remicade for like 5 months when I needed to start having it about every 4 weeks in order to be without symptoms, thats when my doctor decided to start me on the new drug cimzia. It is like remicade but without the 3 hour wait, you take 2 shots week 0, 2, and 4 then 2 shots every four weeks. Is anyone else on this medicine and how is it working for you. I did my first set of shots last night and boy is the solution thick. I had a little soreness last night but feel fine today.

I'm not on it but am glad Humira is not the only other major biologic I can consider since Remicade may not be my thing...

I am from Canada, and just got an email from Crohns and me. It is an American sight and I read up on Cimzia, brand spanking new from compared to Remicade and Humira, not sure the composition, I am on Humira and other than the "woman's problem" today, in pain, but I am doing well on it. If it aint broke dont fix it. Remicade was part Mouse protein and I was highly allergic to it....where are my mouse traps LOL.. I have to laugh, not making fun,, not good to be serious all the time, as serious as this disease is, you have to not live it. I read somewhere on this sight Japan is coming up with new ideas on a cure...amazing.

So if you live in Canada then how did you get this drug. Mine told me that it was not available in Canada yet?

I am from Canada too and I just heard they approved Cimzia in the states, Canada is always the last to get a drug, the FDA is strict and slow. Humira is here also but you have to be on Remicade first and if that dont work or allergic to it you can get Humira. I live in the North and have an amazing GI, and I am his first patient to be on Humira, I know so many people on Remicade and doing well. It takes a long time to Administer Remicade, and Humira is self injection and at home. I am doing amazing on it, been on it since March 28th. After having symptoms of Crohns over 30 years, I am grateful to have it under control.

I was on remicade for yrs. then he switched me to Humria back in Dec.07
Had a reaction I quit taking it for several months .Now I just got approved
for remicade for the second time. Had my first infusion yesterday.
Could you tell me more about CIMZIA?
My Gi is very good also. He is the chief of chiefs Head staff at a well known hospital here in Hamilton.
He flys everywhere for seminars on IBD Hes always on top about the latest drugs for CD.
This is why I am curious on how you got CIMIZIA
When Remicade was first introduced in Canada I was one of the first people to receive this drug.
We had to keep( the news people channel 11 news )quite so the media couldnt hear about it
because they thought that people with moderate CD would want this drug
and back then well and still is as everyone knows now very expensive
This is what I was told by the Drs. and Gi's back then.

Tammy I don't think the original poster is from Canada, they never mentioned where they are from in the post, and Penny has mentioned she is from Canada but not on Cimzia (she said she's on Humira right now). Just thought I'd clarify what I was getting out of the thread in case it helps.

Details??

A cure or another medicine for pharmaceutical companies to profit off your life of misery?

I believe pnp26 hails from New York.. As for Japan, there's a couple of threads going at the mo about it... one is how they do p.d.g. controlling it with diet.. as for when Cimzia will be approved in Canada, that depends. Federal gov't has to approve it's use within Canada, then each province has to approve it AS they control their own health plans.. I would think that once Ottawa gives it the green light, Ontario will probably be one of the 1st to give it provincial OK.. course, if you depend on private health coverage to pay for it, that may take a while to trickle on down to you....
