Clear Liquid Question

I feel like after 20+ years of Crohn's I should know this stuff, but my memory isn't what it used to be. I have a colonoscopy scheduled for Tuesday, so tomorrow I am on clear liquids. I seem to remember in the hospital clear liquids included coffee and cola. Is that the case? I really don't want a caffeine withdrawal headache on top of everything else, and just a little black coffee or cola will help. I don't drink a lot of caffeine anyway, but if I go without, I will get a headache.

The list they always give me prior to this stuff says black coffee and cola are fine. Just don't add cream

Tea is fine too...and has more caffeine than coffee.

Thanks for the quick replies! I thought that was the case. Nyx, I don't like tea except with a lot of honey when I have a cold. Just like I don't like jello any more because I associate it with being in the hospital.

Cafe is OK but I don't think Clear Liquid includes soda or any carbonated beverage.

According to the handout I have from my GI's office, carbonated beverages such as Sprite, 7-Up and Ginger Ale are listed as examples of clear liquids.

The only thing to avoid is jello flavours that are red and grape... Of course my fave. Now I hate jello. I but love the chicken broth in a box from Campbell's just heat it up and sip it. Let us know how your scope turns hout Linda!! :hang: What prep do you have to take?

I always drink gingerale as the ginger helps with the nausea that I always get with the prep....ick
