Had a few sleepless nights in absolute agony lately. All I had for pain relief was paracetamol, which hasn't done anything. Saw a GP today and he gave me some codeine phosphate. I know certain tablets can worsen Crohn's and although it doesn't mention IBD or Crohn's on the leaflet, I just wanted to make sure they're ok to take.

I have been on codeine phosphate for 20 years now, they are often prescribed for diarrhoea when nothing else works. Without them I would be incontinent. Just remember that they can cause constipation like any opiates, so if you start to feel blocked stop them until things get moving again. I also recommend that you take paracetamol as well as they make codeine more effective as pain medication.
