Colds Irritating Crohn's Symptoms

I have been sick since since Thursday night with some sort of upper respiratory infection and cough. I think that it is irritating my Crohn's symptoms. Does this happen to any of you? Do you have advice what I should or should not take besides my normal Crohn's meds? I don't want this to turn into a full blown flare.

I'm fighting a cold and it's pretty miserable. I'm taking black elderberry syrup and Emergen-C to keep it at bay. I haven't tried any cold meds yet. I'm on pred so I'm just trying to get through it.

We use the humidifiers when my kid has this. That and vicks on the chest. I avoid OTC meds whenever possible.

I find that most of the cold/flu meds will irritate my bowels if I use them more than a couple times. I try to avoid them unless I really need them. That being said, I did have a stomach flu that did a real number on my crohn's about 10 years back. If you don't see improvements within about a week, you may consider speaking to a doctor to see if anything can be done.

I used Epsom salts in a bath the other day and it totally kicked the end of my cold!

I had an URI a few weeks ago and my D was really bad. My PCP thought it might ne from an increase in mucos because my stools were very mucosy. I just ended up getting some antibiotics for it and my D got better as my URI symtoms got better.
