4 days from now i go to doctor for consultation / scheduling of my second colonoscopy. My question is, is it common (when needed) for them to scope from top and bottom at the same time - while they have you knocked out?

History - had my first colonscope 5 years ago. They took out a polyp and said come back in 3 yrs. I've waited til 5 yrs. Most of all 2014 my tummy hurt all day and would feel a little better ever time i eat, making me think stomach ulcers. About Thanksgiving day i started taking probiotics and that quickly helped my tummy just a whole lot. I'd had about all i could take and I'm not 100% but I'd say 85% - still some pain.

Should i quiz the doctor about scoping from both ends at the same time? I'm 58. Thanks for your advice!

Yes, I've had endo and colonoscopy done at same time. It's only a few minutes more for them and you are already out so it's worth it.

I have Crohn's and have scopes bi-yearly. As it's better to do as much as possible with each anesthesia trip, I usually have a lower and upper scope, even if I am currently having symptoms in only 1 area. I usually wake up during part and get to watch (Bonus!)! haha

Yep. My first was going to be just lower but since my barium swallow indicated ulcers my doc asked to do both. No difference other than a minor sore throat.

My doctors have always done them at separate times but I sure wish I COULD get it done together! :)

Yes, my daughter had both scopes done at the same time. I'm really glad because we only had to go through everything once.
