So iv been having all the IBD symptoms, loads of mucus in stools, facael calprotectin was a very positive, all looked ok in colonoscopy, biopsys normal. Can anyone tell me what could happen now. I don't c my consultant till January. Does this mean I don't have IBD or might he do more tests. I'm so disappointed in a way, I no it's good that biopsys were fine but just leaves me with no diagnosis :(

I feel for ya, I am going through the same thing with trying to get answers. Have you had your small bowel looked at all? I just had an MRE of the small bowel that did not show anything. I am awaiting the results of the fecal calprotectin test which I should get tomorrow.

I do remember my gastro doc telling me that the fecal inflammation marker tests like lactoferrin and calprotectin are not very reliable. Now I am not sure about that really. I am still trying to learn more about these tests. My gastro doc said that any kind of inflammation or irritation can raise the markers ( I think he meant like if you had a infection of any sort in the gut( parasitic, c-diff, yeast, etc..). I had a raised lactoferrin stool test two years ago, before I even had any gut issues or symptoms, so I just dont get it. There has to be something to it though. Try not to stress out, I know it sucks not having answers. I have a lot of different health problems and believe me, it took a long time for me to even finally get a diagnosis on them. Hang in there.. In the mean time, I would tell your GI doc you are in pain and want some sort of treatment plan for your symptoms. Hang in there....
