Hi Again Michael is going in for his Scope and Colonoscopy on thursday. They got him in very quickly .
They tried to get us to bring him in on the thrusday after his blood work but we need to get the time off of work . So they ask us the 1st day and called picu .
Anyway we forgot to ask doe he need to stop taking his Medication .
He is on Preacid(SP) , singular and Advair 250/50.
I know they said that he could not eat anything on wed only clear fluids
nothing with Red dye in it .
Any suggestions would be great .
We got his lab work but and the doctor did not explain all the results so we are waiting for our ped to get back from vaction .
hgb 12.9 low
mchc 33.3 low
They are only a little low

Mono% 14.2 high should be no higher than 12.5

alk phos 165 which is low should be atleast 178

ESR is 20 high should be below 10 by they testing

Igf-I ECL 153 low it should be atleast 163

So any thoughts on those results would be great . He discusses the ESR with us but that is it . I do not want to call and bug him yet the GI Doctor i firgured i can ask on thrusday . I am very upset that three years ago when they put us threw testing bone age etc that they said not to worry about Crohn's . Now 3 years later they are telling us we need to . He is 14 and should be growing and he is not growing :(
Thanks

They want the bowel clean for the scope obviously. I don't think the meds would interfere with that but there may be other reasons not to take them. I'd ring the GI's office just to be on the safe side!

Thanks I am going to call in the am . I can not remeber when they did the scope if we stop meds or not . I have no clue about the clonoscopy if he should stop his meds....

As a general rule you take your medications as normal prior to a colonoscopy.

I'm not sure about the bloods but I guess even aside from the ESR perhaps some of those values are a result of chronic inflammation. Also the delayed onset of growth and puberty is a sign of chronic inflammation as well so I wonder if the bloods are supporting that.

The gi he went to yesterday is the same one we were seeing for 3 yrs . He was deployed when Michael went in for his yearly visit . So he wanted to touch base since the other Gi is on leave . He does not seem to concern like the other Gi was . This is the one that told us not to worry about Crohn's and that kids should not have acid reflux . Where the other Gi did not even know family history of Crohn's but going off the blood work he wants him checked for it . They confuse me . My ped agrees with the 2nd Gi the one that did the labs . He wants his tested now . We go in tomorrow for the scope . We are hoping it is nothing ....... Then we are off to Endo either way . He has been getting sick from the drink today .We will be glad when this part is off .

Thanks for the update hun.

Sending Michael all the luck in the world with his scopes and fingers crossed that you get solid answers!...

Much love, :Karl:
