I finally had my colonoscopy today.

It wasn't so bad in the end. The sad part was having drunk 4 liters of laxative before the procedure. Then, they knock me out with anestesia and when I woke up everything was done.

By looking at the pictures they took It seems they found something in my "ileocecal valve", which they called "raised formation" (actyally they say "formación sobreelevada" in Spanish, and it is the best translation I could get).
They also took some samples for biopsies and I will have the results in 20 days.

In the meantime here are my pics.
I am not a doctor, but it does not look like something good for me. :pale:

Has anyone experienced something similar?

hi Braveheart.. i'm not a doctor either. just wanted to say though, it doesn't look like really bad ulceration to me - i saw my own colonoscopy images while it was being done a while ago and my Crohn's patches looked awful compared to your pictures.

maybe if you don't want to wait so long for the result, you could speak to your gp and ask what the term means?

i hope it's something mild and easily treatable. please let us know.

Its too soon to worry yet...One raised area does not necessarily mean bad news.
I thought the pics looked pretty good...but I'm no doctor. Try not to worry:)See if you can google "normal Colonoscopy versus abnormal pics".

i saw images of my colon while they were examining it, and it looked much different than that.... lots of bloody patches from what i recall... i could literally see blood.... unless i was imagining it?

hey it's cool that they gave you the pics.

but it's just best you wait for the results and have the doctor explain.... good luck!

hello Braveheart
your pics look good but the complete and definitive diagnosis will come from the pathology reports and maybe your docs will give you pictures of the microscopic slides from pathology. It does require special expertise to understand what the tissue looks like at endoscopy and usually it it tied in to the lab pathology reports.
It does take an MD specialist in GI pathology to make this diagnosis and it does take time for the whole lab procedure to be effected. Hence the l-o-n-g wait we all have to endure.
Hopefully your news will be good and you will soon be feeling better

Yes, may be is to early to worry about this.
It doens't look that bad, but what worries me is they paid special attention to something they found.
I d' rather wait for the pathology reports.

I think they are referring to the yellow patches in the photos, that's what was pointed out to me when I reviewed my pictures. It doesn't look too bad but your guts don't need to look like hamburger for it to make you not feel good. The pathology reports will give your GI a clue on what it is and they'll get you fixed up =)

I'm not any good at reading these things. LOL I was also given pics of mine & even after he explained what everything was, I still had no idea what he was talking about.

I would try your best not to worry & wait until you can talk to your GI. Good luck :)

I 've just seen the gastroenterologist and he said my colon is almost right.
He didn't pay much attention to the raised formation found in my ileocecal valve.

This is completly irrelevant, he said.
This is nothing compared to the problems you have in your Illeum, he added. .:ybatty:

A funny way to tell me I should not worry about it, don't you think?

So....did he give you a diagnosis of anything?

I 've had crohn for 20 years now. And I always had problems with the last part of the small intestine (illeum). I had a surgery in 1994 and we are cosidering having a second surgery and/or starting with Remicade.

Doctors advice me to do this colonoscopy to see the rest of the intestine (colon) and check if someting "important" comes up.

He didn't give me any new diagnosis, he didn't pay much attention to the problems shown there.
