Hiya son had scopes on Wednesday. Dr said all appeared normal except for redness at the bottom of the oesaphagus and terminal ileum lumpy and swollen-not red though. He said both could indicate inflammation or both could be completely normal. Awaiting results from biopsies, but just wondering if its possible to have "normal"looking scopes but biopsies show inflammation? Or generally "normal" scopes will indicate "normal" biopsies? Or am i getting my hopes up prematurely that IBD is ruled out? Anyone had great looking scopes.....and then abnormal biopsies?

my daughter who was already dx'd on follow up scope normal scope and inflammation in biopsies.

In my daughter without disease normal scope and normal biopsies.

Unfortunately you just have to wait. The good news is if he does have Ibd you are catching it early!

You can have normal scopes and biopsies that show inflammation.

My daughter had a red terminal ileum that bled when biopsied. It didn't look too bad. But the biopsies showed chronic inflammation and granulomas. She also had small white ulcers all through her colon (biopsies also showed inflammation there).

She was diagnosed with Crohn's as soon as the biopsies came back.

Hang in there!

My son also passed his scopes with flying colors. The GI who did the scopes told us it all looked "beautiful" except for the ileum, which is where they expected the inflammation based on the MRE.

Biopsy came back with expected inflammation in the ileum -- plus damage and chronic issues in several other areas.

I certainly don't want to make you more anxious. But I do know I cried for days after they gave me the biopsy report, more because I felt so sure that it was all fine based on what he'd "seen." But that's why they do biopsies.

Praying yours comes out with clear answers.

We've been through several scopes with different combinations. My son once had a clean scope, as in high five let's celebrate clean, and then biopsies showed inflammation.

I don't want to be a downer but be prepared biopsies could be fine or not. I hope they are clean too!
