Just got home from having another colonoscopy! They were able to dilate my stricture and I am feeling pretty good.

Bad news is my inflammation is the same. So here come the big guns, pred and biologics. GI mentioned Remicade but has to see what my insurance will cover.

Well I am off to read the Remicade and Humira subforums!

Hi Carol.

That's great news about the stricture. This is something that my doctor and fellow (the doctor I see is at a teaching hospital) were wondering, since the radiologist didn't specify how long it was. Just something that there was a short section of smooth narrowing, or something like that. They were going to discuss that at their next roundtable panel.

I've been on Humira for about 3 years, which seems like it's been the only treatment that has kept my Crohns in remission. However, at my last doctor visit, my doctor was talking about stopping it, which I'm not too sure about. I'm going to have a colonoscopy in late March, so I'm on Humira at least until then.

I confess I didn't know a stricture could be dilated. That is great news not only for you, but for me. Sorry to hear about the inflammation, but the treatment for that seems to be pretty well established. Hope yours goes well.

I read an article online that talked about having better results dilating shorter strictures than long strictures. I can't remember if the article was referenced here on the forum or if it was one I found on google. It has only been hours, but I can already feel a difference. Now just to see how long it lasts! *fingers crossed* :)

Great news about the stricture  It is a shame about the inflammation, this disease giveths with one hand and takeths with the other :( Lets hope the remi gets approved for you.
