Hi everyone!

I'd be really interested to hear if anyone has suffered with hair loss/alopecia due to ibd. My brother is currently undergoing tests for query ibd and he has lost all his hair in the last year. It fell out when he was at his worst last year. I've done some research and it definitely seems hair loss goes hand in hand with ibd, I'd be really interested to hear if anyone else has had this? We are fighting against a brick wall with the doctors at the minute so any ammo is appreciated!

Lauren :)

I have Crohn's and Alopecia Areata Universalis ( no hair @ all for 20 years), Crohn's diagnosed 12 years ago. I also have Raynauds. All Autoimmune Diseases :(. There must be a link. Is anyone studying this?

Hi Tania. Thanks for your reply. I have found two studies online, but the consultant here rubbished them. I absolutely feel that they go hand in hand. I will find the link and post it here so you can have a read.

Keep well,

Lauren.

Hi Lauren!
I've been wondering how you're doing? Has there been a progress with a diagnosis? Hoping your brother is doing better :ghug:

Hello! How are you? Long time no see!

Well, the mri came back with nothing so our doctors basically said that's it, there's nothing wrong with you...but he's is still so unwell so he's paid to see a doctor privately for a second opinion and further tests. They may come back fine, but I think we all feel that there has to be some thing for all this upset. I suppose there might never be answer for him, I just hope he gets well enough to be able to normal again. It's absolutely so rubbish :(

Lauren.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I just don't think that there's nothing wrong. That really makes no sense. Is the doctor he's seeing privately a gastroenterologist? Did you get a recommendation? I think it's important that he sees someone good who will think outside the box since the test results don't seem to be giving obvious answers. I know it's probably a matter of waiting times as well that has caused you to want to try the private route but do remember that you can ask for a second opinion within the NHS and choose any doctor at any hospital too and your GP can refer you.

Hope you get some answers soon. Please let us know how it all goes!

Hair loss was my first symptom, I went to the doctor initially for hairloss not IBD!!
It was all caused by antibiotic Augmentin. Antibiotics are now linked to IBD and many other diseases like C. difficile. Antibiotics destroyed my health.Fecal microbiota transplants will likely restore my health and the good bacteria i have lost, I've done one partially successful FMT, and I'm now a normal weight for first time in 6 years. My next one will likely correct all other issues as i perfect the process. read more in link below.

Wow, I always have managed my diseases and never linked them an hearing from everybody, I realize that that there are so
Many symptoms we all share and so appreciate everybody sharing...intestines major, but so much more seems affected by our gut. Are we just more sensitive and therefore more affected. So amazing to hear everybody's stories 😘
