I was going to place this on the Remicade club thread, but this applies to anyone on Immunosuppressants. So here I sit trying to type in between coughing and sneezing fits, watery eyes, and the drum beat in my head. What started out as basic congestion has turned into full blown Bronchitis. Now being on Remicade and previously Azathioprine, I am aware of the effects on my Immune system. I didn't mess around and went to my primary physician on Tuesday who put me on Augmentin and an Albuterol Sulfate inhaler. Should I be feeling some relief three days in because I have to say that my symptoms seem to be getting worse. I'm very concerned that if I don't improve soon I will be checking into the hospital with pneumonia. I'm planning to reach out to my primary physician again if I don't improve by EOD tomorrow. Should I let my Gastroenterologist know that I am struggling or should I just deal with my primary physician ? My primary is aware that I am on Remicade and even recognized that it was wise to come in as soon as I did since my immune system is compromised, so he gets it, but would my gastro have more experience with what works best with those on immunosuppressants ? I'd be interested to hear what meds have worked for those in similar situations as well as any recommendations on my next move.

Thank you......Kevin

I would definitely give your GI a call. It couldn't hurt and he would most likely have more insight than your general doctor about your specific situation. :) I have had walking pneumonia before and it is NOT fun. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Kevin....My family has been hit hard by respiratory infections this year...Mainly my two younger boys...One cold after another. ...Luckily I have only had one minor cold, and I am on Remicade too....I always end up with sinus pain, pounding headaches etc.....This go round I immediately started taking my go to decongestant and I didn't have nearly the sinus stuff.....Augmentin always gives me horrible gut problems, so just make sure you take it w/ food.....My kids have had a hard time shaking this stuff this year, so it may just be a tough virus to kick....Good idea to follow up with your primary care doc. I hope you feel better.

Marissa & IMP.......thank you for the wellwishes. I slept for the better part of the week and the weekend and I'm finally feeling human again. Still not 100% but much much better. Thanks again for the support.
Hope all is well.
Kevin
