I'm looking to try a liquid diet but I'm confused. I see a lot of people say they drink ensure/boost but my question is how do you get enough calories? How many can you drink per day or is there something else to use so you're not basically starving while you do it but not taking way too many vitamins? I dont want to lose any more weight and I can't afford something like vivonex. By the way I'm waiting for my appt with my new GI so I am not Dr supervised at this point but need to try something to get me by until then. Thanks.

If you look at Boost Plus it has like 360 calories per drink so you'd need to determine the amount of calories you need to sustain or gain weight (depending on your weight and what you intend) then drink that total.

So if you needed to take in 2500 calories a day then 7 Boost Plus a day would get you to that amount.

When I did it I had 6 ensure plus a day which was what I needed to put on some weight. I was told no alcohol or fizzy drinks etc, only water, light coloured cordial, black tea or coffee. Someone else I know was allowed ice lollies but I wasn't told I could so I stayed away. Barbecue's were fun that summer!

Good luck :)

Make your own. I would stick with non dairy milk ( unsweetened...if you don't make your own). Options are endless. Bananas, spinach, cooked butternut squash, pumpkin ( pure), chia seeds, hemp seeds, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, rolled oats--uncooked. Protein powder, just read ingredients. I stick to a sprouted vegan unflavoured protein. Puréed butternut squash with a little coconut oil always sits nice for me. So does a puréed carrot soup.
Good luck

I'm currently in a liquid/pureed food diet for an obstruction of my jejunum (waiting on a procedure to try and fix it without having another resection) and I bought something called Benecalorie from Amazon. It's 300 calories per serving and you add it to whatever, like protein drinks (I have to do coconut milk and protein powder due to sensitivity to every other kind of milk out there). It's like $40 for 27 servings but it has slowed my weight loss down and helps me to get in about 1000 calories a day.

black grape juice is very beneficial for health but not for diabetic persons..apart of this lots n lots of option are there...just like green juices containing spinach, coriander, chia seeds, shakes are also good for gaining weight. Also boiled potatoes with curd with a pinch of salt (not much salt) is a good way of gaining weight..try this definitely..it will work..

Have you considered Modulen IBD? It's developed by nestle science and specific for crohn's disease. 1 box of 400g is 2000 calories which is almost okay depending on your weight etc..
