G'day and happy Friday :)

I met with my GI on Wednesday and am trying to understand my test results.

I had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, a crazy amount of blood and stool tests and a barium CT scan.

All the results are in and my GI stated I have a narrowing of the terminal ileum but all other tests and tissue are fine.

He chalked all the issues I am experiencing up to IBS. Is it possible that with the narrowing of the ileum that there is more to it? Or is this truly IBS and not IBD?

Your insight is greatly appreciated :)

IBS would not cause structural damage such as narrowing of your ileum. I strongly urge you to take your results to another GI as this is likely crohns disease.

The same thing showed on my colonoscopy and my gi sent off a small sample and the test came back as 100% crohns. I would go to a diffrent gi for a second opinion befour things get real bad. Cause I'm sure its crohns.

Thank you for the replies.

My GI said he biopsied the tissue in the ileum and it was "healthy" yet I have read that although it may be healthy, narrowing is a sign of mild to moderate Crohn's....how can I be sure definitively without going through all the tests again with a new GI?

The tests were horrible :)

Just FYI - you could still also have inflammation in the small bowel which is not visualized in colonoscopy or endoscopy. A pill cam or other tests can help diagnose this.

Best of luck with your journey - and I second the suggestion of another GI doctor.
