Is there a connection with Crohn's and swimmers ear? Daughter has swimmers ear. (Described as inflammation of lining in ear) She's never had it before.

Not that I have ever heard. It's usually caused by bacteria. She may have been swimming in water that was not chlorinated properly or if it was a lake, etc. then it's just part of the normal things in the water that can cause it.

When my son got it a couple times his doctor said it was mainly because the ear didn't get thoroughly dry and to try using oil drops to push the water out and help the skin in the ear canal stay healthy. Or ear plugs. We never tried the oil just ear plugs which appeared to work.

The only person I've known to have swimmer's ear is a friend's son. They live on a lake, and he is always in it. He does not have IBD.

Thanks, all. I wasn't sure if it was just dumb luck, or if we had something else to watch for and worry about.

Wow, that's timely. And, good to know. Thankfully, there is no discharge and the pain has diminished with use of the rx drops. So, it looks like it was just the swimmer's ear.

I'm sure that article will help someone here.
