hey guys seriosly considering stoma surgey I have done 2 infusions of remicade and i'm still in heaps of pain and generally feel like crap.

Can I have peoples advice/experiences with the surgery

How do you go with the bag smells and going out i'm having a hard time making a decision I will wait till my 3rd or 4th infusion of remicade and see how I feel then make up my mind

Hi, I have had surgery but didn't need a bag - just had a stricture removed. Personally although the op went well I would still want to give the remicade a little more time to work, surgery will always be an absolute last resort for me. At the end of the day within 3 months of my op I have had a massive flare, now this could be because I don't have a bag and still using a large part of my bowel but I will never again think of surgery as a way to get into remission.

My daughter had a temporary iliostomy. We were told she couldn't use disposable bags. There is a solution to put in the bag after each time it is emptied and the smell is gone! Would it be permanent or temporary? I wish you good luck...hang in there! :)

They can't guarantee reconection for me as my rectum and large intestine are severly inflamed.

Yeah I have only had 2 infusions and will see how I go after the 3rd-4th one and take it from there

I hope the remi works for you and that you dont have to have surgery. Have you tried all other meds like humira? I have been through most meds and probably in a similar situation to you i am on one on methotrexate after trying everything else do now it's just surgery or trials. I am still doing ok on methotrexate but I know how you feel you can't help but think about the next step. My thoughts at the moment are come on dr just whip out my colon, I know it's not that simple but I just want something to work. Hope you get some relief soon x

Yeah tried heaps of stuff like humira and methotraxate tried aza tried simponi have been on other meds but most don't seem to be doing much my guts are starting to feel better so think I will give it time to fully kick in

I really hope it does work for you remi was the best drug I have ever been on for making me feel better. I will find out at the end of this month if I have to have surgery rar so frustrating x
