Does anyone know if the incidence of Costochondritis is higher in people with IBD?
I suppose it would make sense if you are looking at inflammation in general in the body, but was just wondering?

Um I have just had a look at my poll and it is a bit C**P!

I never heard a relationship before but have suffered this numerous times. The inflammation we have is generally in our gut though it's not systemic like in lupus. There are EIM such as the eyes getting inflamed but typically it's limited to the GI and generally the lower GI.

My daughter has Crohn's and Ankylosing Spondylitis and costochondritis is quite common with AS. Since people with Crohn's are more likely to have AS (in fact CCFA lists it as an extraintestinal complication of IBD: http://www.ccfa.org/resources/arthritis.html), there is sort of a relationship.

I am suspected to have crohns (awaiting pill cam results)... and I have defintely had costochondritis.. and other joint aches.. my ANA Is always pretty high, and I am on plaquenil..
