Could I have Crohn's? Or simply IBS?

Hello
A few queries and thank you in advance!

I am currently awaiting a GI appointment but wondered if any of my symptoms could be related to more than IBS(which is what i have mostly thought i have)

I have for the last 3 years had a right sided lower abdominal low grade ache, almost like a stitch which is nearly always present. When I cough it is more pronounced but is not painful when I press on it or when any doctor palpates my stomach. However, in the last 2 years I have had what I would describe as 3 flare ups with worsening right sided lower abdo pain and in particular at present this pain extending round into my right lower back.

I also have had altered bowel habit which has been mentioned to me as IBS. This has been ongoing for the last few years and has worsened year on year. I mostly have loose stools and will go 1-5 times a day(but not woken at night). I will wake most mornings with an urgency to go. I also have a sore tail end and rectal bleeding (from fissures I think).

This current bad episode that I am having has for the first time been causing me nausea and a feeling of fullness as soon as I start eating which is an absolutely miserable feeling and not a pleasant nice and full stomach feeling. Feeling hungry, eating and feeling full almost into my throat is how I would describe it.

Thanks for any input and advice anyone can give me!

Hiya AliBee and welcome

You must be miserable, I know only too well that nagging right sided pain like a stitch, I had it for 20 years and was fobbed off with IBS. 4 years ago that pain radiated into my lower back and it was a sign of an obstruction.
I had it all cut out 4 weeks ago, but that's another story!
Firstly, you don't bleed from your bum or into the toilet bowl with IBS, please don't assume it's a fissure.
Before your apt with gastro start documenting everything in a food journal, times, symptoms etc.
Are you vomiting? Or feel like you want to?
Have a look at our sub forums on here about tests for IBD, different from IBS. Be persistant when you see the gastro, ask for some of these tests, such as a colonoscopy.
Good luck and let us know how your appt goes xxx

Thank you Astra for your reply, yes, I would describe my lower right quadrant pain as that exactly, a nagging one!!

I have thankfully not been sick but do get nauseated at times. This week the nausea has not been too bad but the full feeling on eating has been.

I will start writing a journal of my symptoms, thank you, that's very useful advice.
