This is probably a pretty dumb question but here it is. When I was diagnosed with crohns last month there were several tests done leading to it. Blood tests, colonoscopy, lower ab xrays, biopsy, c scan with ink. They found some inflammation and a stricture, as well as the results of the biopsy, all lead to crohns dx. My problem with all this is my symptom history. After reading as much as I could, I'm either very lucky or is there another answer.
Other than some pain in my lower right abdomen, which only lasted about a week, I've had no other symptoms. No diarrea, I honestly can't remember last time I had it. No constipation, no loss of appetite, and no weight loss. I also haven't found any sensitiveity to any foods. I know everyone has different symptoms but I seem to have almost none of the things I've heard about.

I did have a surgery on my intestines ten years ago, could scaring from that cause a stricture? I'm sure I'm just in the early stages and wishfully thinking but, could it be something besides crohns? My doctor asures me its crohns by the way.

The stricture could be from the surgery.

The RLQ pain is a huge sign of Crohn's as most Crohn's seems to be located in the
Terminal Ileum which is just before your appendix.

The colonoscopy might have shown the skip lesions that are very specific to Crohn's in your terminal ileum which is why the doctor is so sure that you have it.

Some of those symptoms may not be occurring simply because it's very mild at this point. Food issues are not always part of Crohn's disease for some people. Some only find food issues when in a flare. I have IBS as well as Crohn's so I am sensitive to a few things.

You have a great opportunity here and I encourage you not to squander it. Your disease has been diagnosed at possibly an early stage - so treatment may allow you to avoid severe problems for a very long time. Don't ignore it even if you are symptom free. This is an auto-immune disease so even if you are symptom free - problems can be perculating inside just waiting to jump out when you least expect it.

Welcome and good luck

I would get a second opinion. Not because I think your Dr is wrong. But, you need to be confident in your diagnosis. Most ins companies will pay 100% for a second opinion.

You "fell" into a diagnosis for this disease very easily. It may not seem that way but, some of us wait months if not years for a final diagnosis. The one thing wrong with this diesase- it can progress and while it does you cant "see" it so you may not know how bad until it gets out of hand.

Good luck and if you get a second opinion let us know what happens.

Thank you for your replies. I do have an appointment with another doctor on April 25th. In the meantime I'm staying on the meds and trusting my doctor.
