Could Prilosec be harmful to my colitis?

Hi, I'm new to this site so I'll give some background. I've been taking Prilosec about 15 years to control my acid reflux. About a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. I was sick about 2 months before I got diagnosed. I lost 50 pounds in that time. It all started with constipation and turned out I had several blockages in my intestines. When this started my blood sugar was normal but at the time of diagnosis it was over 600 so now I'm on insulin and metformin to control diabetes. Also I'm taking lialda for the colitis. I notice most people with colitis have diarrhea but I get constipation which I take stool softeners for. What I'm wondering is, have all those years taking Prilosec caused my other problems? Anyone else had any of these similar problems? Sorry for the long essay but any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I doubt it played much of a role in your more recent problems, but Prilosec is thought to promote osteoporosis.

Reflux can be caused by an H-Pylori infection. It caused mine.

Hi and welcome!!! There are many of us who have constipation along with the diarrhea. I don't think prilosec can cause Ulcerative colitis. I know that for a bit I used Omeprazole as an acid reducer while in a flare. I think your best bet would to ask your doctor about it though.
