Cramping /pain before BM

Is there a way to control cramping /pain before BM. My daughter is on ASACOL for Colitis and doing fine otherwise but she experience pain before the BM. Is there anything relieve this cramping ?

Does the cramping happen seconds before/as she is evacuating her bowels, a few minutes before, or a longer duration before? What is the consistency of the stool and how long has she been on Asacol?

And she has Ulcerative Colitis, correct?

cramping only occurs for 15-20 minutes before the the BM. BM is solid (max 1-2 per day) , no mucus or blood. She's on ASACOL for 5-6 weeks now.

Has the cramping always been present or did it come on or get worse after she started the Asacol?

Ask your doctor about Bentyl. I take it for cramping and bloating and it works well.
