I wonder if there is anyone else on this forum who has Crohn's which mainly affects the jejunem?

My Crohn's is mainly in the first loop of the jejunem and gives me some chronic difficult-to-manage problems e.g. shortness of breath, which is very limiting physically. The shortness of breath is due to the inflammation from my jejunem affecting the muscles in my diaphragm, making it impossible to relax the diaphragm.

As a result of the Crohn's I have also developed severe asthma. However,
I appreciate I am very fortunate not to suffer with chronic diarrhea, as so many people with Crohn's seem to.

I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has similar symptoms to me.

Thanks.

Hi,
I have not been dx with jejunem. (the colonoscopy they were only able to get to my Illy something (lower smallest intestines) and weren't able to progress up any farther due to it being so inflammed that not even the camera thing could get through). But I do occationally have shortness of breath, and also wheezing at random moments when nothing really seems to start it, and it goes away on it's own.
But i also know, if you haven't spoke to your doc about this yet, you prolly should -due to the shortness of breath symptom being a high alarming thing (atleast in my case, I dont know if it's the same in every one elses).

I hope you get to feeling better soon, and can relax some :)

Also, I've done some reading, and have you had your thyroid checked since you've been having these systoms?

Yes, I have autoimmune thyroid disease, which has been well-controlled for some years. I thought it might be possible it could be causing some of my muscle problems but the endocrinologist says not. He also says
the shortness of breath is not due to TD either, as it is the tightness in the upper part of my small intestine (the jejunem) which causes the difficulty in moving my diaphragm. The GI doc agrees this is indicative of inflammation in the intestine.

I was dx with Crohn's Disease over 30 yrs ago, and people with one autoimmune disease often tend to acquire another autoimmune disease,
so is probably the reason I developed autoimmune thyroid disease 6 yrs ago. Interestingly Crohn's and autoimmune thyroid disease seem to go together sometimes, as I have met quite a few people who have both.
