Hello all,
I was told today that it is very possible I have Behcet's disease, although I have not been formally diagnosed with Crohn's yet, either. I am starting a prednisone regimen for a week to see if my symptoms are helped, and then we work from there. However, regardless of what I've read about Behcet's, I think my GI problems are /way/ more severe than what Behcet's presents. I can't eat without horrible, "help me my appendix is exploding" pain, bloody diarrhea, and nausea with vomiting. Am I wrong, and Behcet's can be that severe gastrointestinally? Also, is it possible to have both Crohn's AND Behcet's? Your responses are greatly appreciated!

You can have both extremely rare
But Gi involvement with bechets can be horrid due to bleeding cramping diarrhea and ulcers in the Gi tract

Good lu k

So sorry.

Hi hmash, welcome to the forum. There was a thread awhile back from someone who had thought for years that she had Crohn's, but turned out to have Behcet's instead - so yes, Behcet's can indeed mimic Crohn's-like symptoms and can be very severe in the gastrointestinal tract. Her thread might be helpful to you - here is the link:

Hello all,
Just a quick update: My colonoscopy has been miraculously moved up to this Friday, so I begin prep tomorrow. I think my immunologist putting in the possible diagnosis of Behcet's is speeding things along, for I also have a gastric emptying test scheduled for this Monday in light of possible gastroparesis. Not that I want to have a disease or anything, but fingers crossed something comes up positive, because I could really use an answer right about now! Thank you for all your responses, much appreciated! :)

Good luck on Friday and please keep us posted! I hope you get the answers that you're looking for so that you can start treatment and feel better.
