crohn's and gall stones

Anyone develop gall stones as a complication of their crohn's? I had an ultrasounds a few days ago and found out I have gall stones now....lovely. Just curious as to what any of you may have had to do for them.

I have never had them personally but I know a few crohnnies who do get them. I think you get surgery if it doesn't pass naturally.

I only know one person who has had them and she doesn't have Crohn's so I don't really know.

ditto my words too (((hugs)))

Have surgery, they won't pass like kidney stones (which I have had too). I had gallstones Xmas of 1999 (and I'm not kidding, I came home from hospital on Xmas day!). I had 13 the size of your back molars -- I kept them in a little container and made a Christmas Ornament out of them to remember that year. I may or may not have had Crohn's during that time, depending on how long the Crohn's has been festering (just got diagnosed last April). I went through 5 gallbladder attacks, was acutely inflamed, and the walls of the gallbladder thickened all within about 3 months. Then it got infected and almost killed me while I was waiting for a "convenient" time to have the surgery. Bad idea, waiting. Ended up with an incision like a gutted fish and a long recovery. The pain of the attack was comparable to my first Crohn's flare that landed me in the hospital. How the two are related in my case is anyone's guess. But if you have gallstones, get them out! They stay in and they can kill you (at the time I was in surgery, a family friend DIED from them, but mom didn't tell me for fear I would freak out). If the surgery is pre-planned, they can do it laproscopically and it's a piece of cake (no milk, I am being good still and swearing off milk!). If you put it off, it can be nasty. I recommend you attend to it, having been there personally and having THE worst experience of my life with it.
