Hey everyone! After much debate I've decided to join an internet group regarding my Crohn's. I really could use some support and help right now.

I am eighteen years old and was "unofficially" diagnosed with Crohn's about 5 months ago. The reason I say unofficially was because I had a marker on a blood test that indicated I had a high probability for Crohn's.

For me, my biggest symptoms are gas + bloating. This has been an issue for so long that it's really taken a toll on me. I avoid going on dates, spending time with friends, or just going out a lot in general because I fear that my stomach will act up (if it isn't already.)

Recently my doctor suggested that I try the SCD diet. Before I get into this, I would like to mention that I am already off of sugar and dairy. No fruit, no milk. Period. I've basically been eating toast, chicken, and hot dogs. Nasty, I know, but those are the only foods I can rely on.

I am EXTREMELY hesitant to try the SCD diet. This is because I weigh 108 pounds (5'6" for reference.) Additionally, the list of "legal" foods on that diet are foods that I have to avoid because they cause me horrible stomach gas. These include:

-nuts of any kind (almonds, cashews, and peanuts are the worst offenders)

-raw fruit (I can't digest strawberries or pineapples because of the sugar content; gives me HORRIBLE gas)

-most vegetables

Basically I feel as though I'm losing my mind. I don't understand how this diet is going to help if the foods that I can eat are the foods that causegas.

Is it small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)? Do I lack the enzymes needed to digest foods properly?? I am on pre and probiotics.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have that problem too, I have multiple food allergies. My doc told me I have sibo. I'm taking probiotics now, but it seems I will have to eliminate many foods which is hard.

I can't explain why, but my gas and bloating got significantly better after starting the paleo diet....

See, I was recommended to try paleo, but I can't even eat half of the things on the list because it gives me horrible stomach problems. Even worse problems than if I were to eat dairy. Nuts and fruit make me sick like none other.
