I am not sure how common this is or not. But I have crohn's disease and have been on Remicade treatment since February. So far it has managed my crohn's as far as I can tell. However, I've recently noticed painful lumps forming under my armpits. Typically if they are painful, they are not worrisome. So I ignored them and thought cysts or acne or something like that. They have been there a few months now and are not painful now. Just lumps. I now have a new lump, this one is different though. It is on my neck on the side. It is not painful. I called my dermatologist, she said they were all lymph nodes, but because of my crohn's it is probably me just flaring up. But still says I may want to get a biopsy since I have so many locations.

I went and saw my PCP as well about this. He said there are too many reasons that I could have these issues to think the worst, so let's wait and see if any B symptoms show up, but I've read that a lot of people never get the "B" symptoms. Especially since my lab tests are all normal.

My question is to ANYONE who might know something about this. Would Remicade hide cancer (in labs)? The main reason my doctors are saying wait and see is because my white blood cell count is normal. But Remicade makes it normal. W/o Rem. I'm super high in white blood counts. So if cancer makes this number go up, wouldn't my Remicade be hiding that to an extent?

I'm worried b/c my doctors tend to put anything and everything wrong with me on my crohn's. Which typically it is. But my crohn's seems to be under control with Remicade, so if I have no symptoms of it, why would these lymph nodes be inflamed b/c of it.

Should I push for a biopsy?

Thanks,
Super confused

I don't think remicade will hide abnormal blood test in something as serious as cancer, but I am not a doctor. If it was me I will push for the biopsies just to ease my mind. I hope somebody in the forum with more acknowledge answers your question.
