Hi I'm a newbie and wondered whether there are any ladies that have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer after having crohns and wouldn't mind having a chat?
I have recently had a colonoscopy which was thankfully deemed normal but I keep having bloating and dull/sharp pain to the left below my navel. When I press on the area it is painful and has been for quite a while. Now I know this could be IBD related but something is just telling me it's not (I will go docs about this however I am not saying I have ovarian cancer of course).
I just wondered how anyone was able to differentiate the symptoms of ovarian cancer to crohns?
Thanks for reading X

I would suggest an intra-vaginal ultrasound in the gynecology/obstetrics or radiology department. A GP can prescribe this, easy done test. I was lucky enough last time I saw my gynecologist, i complained to him about longer and more painful menses and he sent me on the spot to ultrasound. I had the exam the same day, only multiple cysts on ovaries and one bigger hemorrhagic which could possibly explain my new symptoms.

@LadyOrganic - where you given any medications for the ovarian cysts? When my CRS ordered a Pelvic MRI to check on my fistulas, I read on the report that I have ovarian cyst and fibroids. I did not think much of it since the CRS did not say anything about it.

nothing to be done with ovarian cysts in my case. Seems like a very common and benign condition in many cases. Same thing for fibroid. I know a lot of women who say they have that and go on with life without any treatment. maybe they can remove them if they become too big or too painful?

@LadyOrganic -Thanks. Its not painful or anything. Actually, I wouldn't have known I have those if not because of the pelvic MRI for the fistula. Very reassuring to hear that it is common.

Had both - but I don't have ibd
If they are not causing problems pain bleeding etc
They leave them be
If the cysts are growing large /or rupturing they either go with birth control pills or remove the ovary
Same thing with fibroids except the pill or hysterectomy

Most people are ok with no treatment

Eta: there is a blood test to determine if the cyst is ovarian cancer a ca-125 ( I think ...)
Monitoring special types of cysts once they get over a certain size is also recommended since this can predict ovarian cancer

Thanks for the replies, my GP has referred me for an ultrasound scan so hopefully that appointment comes through soon.
My bloating has subsided the past couple days but I still have like a sharp tugging pain if I get up too quickly or move suddenly. I'm such a drama queen, I'll probably be told my ovaries are fine 😕
