Crohns and periods...

Hi just a quick question.. can crohns affect ur period?? the reason im askin is the my last 2 periods have been bad, the cramps are terrible and losin alot of blood and clots this has never happened before and ive also noticed a change in colour too and painkillers aint helpin.. thanks in advance for any advice given xx

Yes. The hormonal changes can aggravate your symptoms. A lot of us experience this!

How long have you had Crohn's? Have you had other periods that were normal since your symptoms began? Are you now or have you recently been on birth control?

Hi, i was told i had crohns sept 2012, its only been my last 2/3 periods that im noticin changes, the pain is horrid and it gets to the point that i cant walk properly. ive just come off my period so im not so bad just sleepin loads and still have pain in my left side. not on any birth control xx

I am in the same boat ..had normal periods but the last 2/3 have been TERIABLE!! Lots of blood lost. (More then normal) . I just assumed it was from one of the 6 meds I'm taking thinning the blood??

Birth control might help these control symptoms, if you're not opposed to being on it.

You might also want to look into something like endometriosis, which is very common and can cause these symptoms. Birth control would be the first shot at treatment for this, as well.
