Hey guys hope all is well. My question is this i come from a eastern european background and we eat virtually everything with either bread or some sort of baked goods rolls, bagels etc.... Also for breakfast i always either eat scrambled eggs on toast or with some sort of fried meat turkey pork products well you get the idea or i eat cereal so how do i eat less baked stuff and i need some breakfast suggestions like this morning all i could think of was couple of toasted sandwiches or bagels with deli meat i tried smoothies but they bloated the crap outa me so gave that up real quick now need some more ideas

Do you have any food sensitivities/issues like with tomatoes or dairy or anything. A little food background info will make suggesting things easier.

I normally eat porridge for breakfast, but melon is really nice for a morning wake up.

When I can be bothered I will have a small cooked breakfast. Ie 2 items out of the following: sausage, bacon, hash browns, beans, tomatoes, egg

Ive seen recipes with sardines/mackrel with cold salad potato and salad leaves

Heres some other ideas http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/search.do?keywords=breakfast

Maybe bananas mashed with peanut or almond butter. Zucchini and carrot omelet or spinach omelet- maybe adding more veggies with the eggs will help or having soup on the side. Potato pancakes (there are potato pancake recipes online made with just potatoes and olive oil and some even include carrots and parsley). Or a microwaved sweet potato. I did some reading and some cultures eat rice as a part of their breakfast.

Turkey bacon, any kind of eggs, toast - white bread or sourdough;

like Jim, I can eat pancakes or french toast

protein drink: 1 scoop whey protein powder (I get chocolate flavor), 1 cup of lactose-free milk, ripe banana and a couple of ice cubes - mix all together in a blender - makes it like a milkshake

Banana pancakes
Blend one egg and 2 very ripe bananas together and then cook like a typical pancake.

I haven't tried these yet, but they are SCD legal, so when my son can eat, I will give this recipe a go.

Try smoothies! I know a lot of crohns have trouble with fibre but if you blend the ___ out of that stuff it's basically pre-digested. I really like kale, strawberry and banana with a bit of juice and maybe some coconut oil if you can tolerate (lauric acid!) Good energy and lots of healthy stuff, and liquid!

I'm kind of afraid of trying smoothies. My concern is if it goes in as a liquid - doesn't it come out that way too? Is that true or no?

Trouble with them is for some reason the bloat the crap outa me

Ahh that's too bad :(. Are you sure it doesn't have to do with what you're putting in the smoothie? As for going in/coming out liquid, I think that just depends on your belly! I'm on full liquids at the moment and, ya, it's all liquid, but when I was doing morning smoothie and solids throughout the day, I didn't have an issue with it. In fact, I was a bit blocked up believe it or not! Don't think that was the smoothie though ;)

Very true. Also, I can't say much for rice milk because I've never tried it, but certain almond milks are just packed with weird stuff that might bother those of us sensitive to processed foods. I use Silk almond milk and it doesn't bug me, but Almond Breeze makes me a bit more skeptical. I am also becoming a paranoid freak about food though so who knows. Maybe try juice if it's something you wanna try to get on board with. I've even used just water to thin it when I use avocado.

I do very well with rice and rice products. I often eat a bowl Rice Crispies with vanilla rice milk for breakfast.

My hubby found this BREAD to be rather good ... He could not eat it as just bread for sandwiches or stuff like that but having it toasted was good. We all tried it and I like it best with cream cheese & toasted. They have other brands too:

Sesame
Cinnamon Raisin
Whole Wheat

You just have to LOOK for it in the FREEZER section or ask your local grocery store as the stores out here in Indiana we get it at Kroger. So, look into and I really think that you will LIKE IT !!!

Thanks for the suggestion but don't think it's available here in Australia
