I eat apple sauce, string cheese, plain pasta with butter, and a peeled potato. I get no abdominal pain when I eat these foods!

Hey laura, really? im surprised.. especially with the cheese strings.. i guess everyone is different but still pretty surprised at that one! thats awesome tho. I definitely cannot eat cheese strings.. or anything processed at all

Actually, I think I noticed more of a change when I stopped dairy than when I switched to vegan.

I have stopped dairy aswell but im in a bad flare right now and losing weight rapidly.. cant seem to stomach much at the moment

I want to qualify myself. I stopped caffeine and dairy early on and I think that helped. Since my resection, I have gone organic. Sometimes, I daydream and imagine gluten free doesn't really help.

Thank you Ron, i have also stopped all caffeine and dairy.. i went 100% plant based but was already flaring and lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks.. now im down about 15 pounds and am super skinny. Im sorry to hear about your resection but it sounds like you have figured your body out for the most part.. i am 25 years old and have always been stubborn and I have never REALLY given my body a real shot at recovering from a flare naturally and have always crawled to the doctor for help ( prednisone )..

I am hoping i can get this under control my self this time.. Im going to start juicing some vegetables today in hopes that it helps

Josh- I tried juicing and it tore my stomach up! I have been in CD flare for 5 plus years.
And I am really upset with my Dr, he is definitely a less is more kinda guy, which is great
but, I work retail on my feet at least 8 hours a day. No breaks, usually no lunch/dinner break. Its hard on my body. Not as young as I used to be!

How are you able to follow a plant based diet? Do you have to over cook your veggies?
What kinds of veggies or fruits do you tolerate well??

Thanks,
Lauren

I tried to do gluten-free/ modified AIP diet but it didn't help. When I'm flaring my favorite and safest thing to eat seems to be plain sushi - tuna and white rice, no sesame seeds or seaweed. great gentle protein/carb source! I also do white bread and soup. I cut out dairy for the most part, as well as caffeine and alcohol. I think the dairy has made a huge difference. I also cut out chocolate which was hard but now I don't really miss it. I think that contributed to my flares because I used to eat a ton of dark chocolate. I don't drink soda or anything carbonated either. Obviously no raw fruits and vegetables. Canned fruit like peaches and pears seem to be okay. I definitely worry that I'm not getting enough nutrients because I don't eat any green vegetables. No nuts or beans or seeds at all. I know that is kind of common knowledge.

Really? Because i have juiced the other day and it just KILLED me aswell. Had me running to the washroom pretty quick.. which i dont understand? I thought all the fiber was taken out? Im sorry to hear that your still in a flare.. that must be hard :(

Im not sure how lol.. i didnt think it was that big of a deal but yes i do generally cook them pretty well.. either steamed or roasted.. The only things i dont tolerate very well are very acidic fruits or veggies like tomatoes, oranges, lemons and limes

Josh-

God I love oranges bur of course can't eat them!

Roasting veggies is the best for me too!

And thank you, a 6 year flare really sucks, just glad my kid are older now- that have always
been really good and understanding though. Just never hated them to be those kids- I cant my mom is sick, so I had always pushed myself really hard for them and really wouldnt change it.

Lauren
