I am having pain on my left side with some increased bowel movements I just cant tell where it is coming from. Just wanted to ask the ladies how they tell. Last time I had a huge cyst (size of an orange) on my right side. Had to have the ovary removed. This is where I get confused.

Hello again, Mary... Colette again... when I was 21 I had to have a hysterectomy, but I already had Crohn's. And I can relate to your pain, believe me. It is difficult to tell which part of you is giving you problems, but remember all of that is connected and one irritation will pile on top of another. Best idea is to go to your gyno and see if he can give you an x-ray to check on your remaining ovary. If it's not that, it's our wonderful ibs/ibd/or Crohn's irritating that particular area. Then see your GI or get to a GI doctor to check your bowel. Crohn's usually attacks the terminal illeum (sp?) which is in that area too.

Any more questions, feel free to ask. I've been there, believe me...

yup, i'd say go ask for an ultrasound... i also had an ovarian cyst years ago, didn't know it was there although it was apparently the size of a grapefruit! the only twinges of pain it gave me i put down to adhesion/post surgical pain..

a few months ago i started getting pain in the other ovary area, was convinced it was ovary trouble, in fact my gp warned me it could be ovarian cancer - this time (after a couple of scary weeks waiting) i was scanned and told the ovary was fine - it was the Crohn's causing the pain.

really difficult to differentiate yourself, so please get it looked at. good luck.
