Hey guys I'm a 31 year old crohnie have had crohn's since i wad 24. Well had my usual ups and downs. I was just thinking the other day how will i be with crohn's later in life like in my 50s & 60s. I have noticed that people start developing bowel issues around this time but just wondering how someone with crohn's does having had issues with bowels all their life

i,m 51 and i don,t think it makes much difference to be honest.your in your 30,s its a safe bet by the time reach 50 crohns will be dealt with and cured by the medical profession.good luck

That's a nice thought but I can't see it unfortunately. :(

I am 57 and I don't see any issues any different. I was diagnosed with Crohn's when I was 34.

I'm 44 now and was diagnosed when I was 20. This year has been pretty tough for me Crohn's wise, but in hind sight the worst years were those early years. Over my 24 years with Crohn's I was on meds maybe 8 years, the rest of the time in remissions. So for the most part (excluding 2013) my Crohn's has improved rather then gotten worse as I've aged. :D

That is great!

I have had tummy issues since I was 17 & was diagnosed & treated for UC

Fast forward to my current age of 64 & 4 GI Docs & now they say Crohn's

My current flare started when I turned 60 & the current meds are taking the edge off

It took a load off my mind to finally know what I'm dealing with

My timing is almost the same as Ozboz' (30 now, Crohn's emerged around age 24). The first 5 years were awful - very active disease that tested the limits of my pain and nausea tolerance - but since starting Humira a year ago, I've been doing pretty well. I really hope it continues to be an effective medication.

Given that I have some bad narrowing and scarring in my small intestine, I may require surgery in the future. I try to be optimistic about continued remission and possibly even a cure, but I also try to keep myself mentally prepared for a backslide or worse.

I understand your worries. Having CD is like a roller-coaster ride and planning things ahead is very difficult. And this can be even worse when you live in South America :p

When I was 20 years old I believed I would never become 40. Now I am almost 40, and even though I am doing fine, I think I may be able to reach 60-65.

As you see I am not very optimistic, but what reality shows me is I have been able to deal with CD for quite long time as same as many others folks here in this forum.
