Hi,

Just wondered if anyone knows how the doctors differentiate between inflammation in the stomach and crohns inflammation? I had a gastroscopy a month ago which showed inflammation of the stomach or "erosive gastritis" and a ulcer (was tested and isn't the bacterial one) and have been put on omeprazole again the same dose I already had for 10 weeks and did nothing! My consultant said in clinic its important not to rule out it being actual crohns in the stomach and at the time I wasn't thinking on my feet enough to ask how he could tell one from another? I also have an active flare up anyway at the moment lower down and am awaiting the barium to rule out a stricture still.

I know its very rare to have crohns in your actual stomach but do any of you have any experience of this?

Hey Barbie,
I have gastritis as well along with hiatus hernia... they can do biopsies with endoscopies - something about the layers of tissue... I was out of it when I was told ... all I know is that it is rare so I ruled myself out :)

P.S - Your story sounds very similar to mine. I have recently been told I have strictures in lower bowel. I plan on asking my nurse practitioner tomorrow if they are connected.

I have mine from the mouth all the way to my rectum whcih is now removed along with all my large intestines and more then half my small. It also affects my kidneys and liver.I don't know what they call it.I can't say or spell it for that matter.LOL

Though its not diagnosed in me yet, I think I have CD in my tummy too. I have very bad pain under my ribs and all on the left side where my stomach is. They say its GERD.....but I know what that feels like and its differnt than this other pain I have....similar to what your describing. Its taken them several years to diagnos my disease, so just bc test come back neg for the disease doesnt mean its non existant....its just not obvious yet.

God I know exactly the feeling!! Ive had awful constant pain under my right ribs and round to my back. Its really not the same as my typically pain and definatley made worse eating or even drinking water!! Ive been on stuff for GERD for months now and it doesn't make any difference. Its so frustrating im loosing so much weight cos they are messing around not listening and I physically struggling to take much in at all cos anything makes it even worse. LOL xx
