I have had ulcertive colitis since 1986 with flare ups often and the removal of my colon in 2002 after the birth of my second child. I now have a J-pouch which has replaced the colon and has allowed me to NOT have an ostemy. However, in the last two years, I have had several abscesses and a vaginal fistula. I am now diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. I will be beginning Humira treatment within the next week in hopes of putting this into remission and elimnating, at least for a while, the abscesses and fistulas.

Is there anyone else who has a J-pouch and is now taking Humira (or remicaid) to treat crohn's sysptoms? I am really having a difficult time finding others in this situation. I am a bit nervous about the treatment, but have not found a lot of alternatives either. The abscesses have to stop!

Thanks for any information.

Welcome to the forum Jenny!

I hope the Humira treatment works out as hoped.

I do have Crohn's but have not taken Humira and I do not have a J-Pouch. Hopefully someone here will be in your situation and will be able to give you some additional advice.

Hi Jenny and welcome!

I'm sorry you're having all this trouble, you poor thing :(

We have dedicated Humira and Remicade forums under the "treatment" section of this site. You may want to ask in those forums if anyone there has any experiences along the lines that you have.

I wish you all the best and hope to see you around :)

Hi Jenny and welcome! I don't have first hand experience, but I have read several stories (a few recently actually) who have been through almost the same exact situation. It must be so difficult to learn you have Crohn's when you thought your GI problems were behind you. I sure hope Humira works wonders! Good luck!
