Hi all,

April has been the worst month for me.

I've been in hospital twice in the begining of April.

I always flare in April and am currently feeling sick to my stomach.

I have flares in November and April.

How about the rest of you in Crohn's land? Do you find flaring to be seasonal?

Yes!! April has been a bad month for me also. The last 2 years I`ve had bad flares in April.
I am having some issues again!! I have a fistula and it has been quiet, but now is inflamed and draining alot!
I hope it calms down, don`t see my GI til May, he is considering putting me on Humira if the Imuran does not heal the fistula. Does not look like it is going to.

Funny now that I think of it, has to be in the coldest months here. All my surgeries and major hospitalisations have been in March, but starts from Xmas on... summertime is usually my best times.

I'm worse when it's very cold or very hot...
so mid winter and mid summer for me.

Strange thing happens to me in summer..
when the temp goes above 80 degrees...my body temp rises...
strange...I just run a low grade fever.

I could never figure that one out. :confused2:

I did a Google search and there are articles that seemingly confirm the "seasonality" of Crohn's.

Now, if I can just get through April;)

CAN1991........I feel for you. I'm in the same boat as you!

I find my worst time is usually August/September. Although I do have an abscess that has reared its ugly head (pun intended).

There is another thread on here regarding this and I think many people agreed. For me it is always spring and fall. I think it is somehow allergy related. Strangely, I was always sick in the spring when I was a child. My Mom recalls that I was nearly hospitalized one Easter due to severe dehydration from vomiting and D. Somehow I think it must be related.

Last time I saw my consultant, he was saying that a lot of people tend to get better during the summer. This disease is WEIRD.

I definitely am best through the summer months. I guess, for me, its down to being able to relax, get outdoors more, maybe even more moisture in the air thats stops me from dehydrating as much.

I'm wondering if it has something to do psychologically. Are there times in our life where we are naturally more prone to stress (these are the times we flare up)? Or are there times in our life where we are more relaxed (ie vacation, favorite season, good weather, etc.) and have good periods of remission?

Then there is the aspect of food during these times that could produce opposite effects. Are we eating worse because we are stressed, thus antagonizing our disease? Are we enjoying our vacations and/or the weather more, so we tend to eat more "junky" items (this happens a lot around holidays, of course). Or are there seasonal foods contributing to our discomfort?

I haven't gone a whole year with Crohn's yet, but will be interested to see if I experience any seasonal affects.

Gee, when I think about it...the worst month for me has always been January.
In fact it was that month 13 years ago that I was in hospital and was diagnosed with Crohn's.

I'm wondering if every January I am just so exhausted from all the running around, planning Christmas etc., in December...gift buying, eating the wrong foods and all, has something to do with how I feel every single January.

The stress of the hoidays and the fact that every January I have such bad memories of being so so sick before the diagnosis was made and I know I have flash backs at that same time each year.

Yeah I agree Nancy & Marisa

Christmas is a very stressful time whether you're a Crohnie or not! My flares are always round about that time, working in a school we have the annual run around of 'tis the season of glitter & glue' and Xmas Pantos, productions, nativity, etc etc, and then some!
I agree with the Summer months making us happier, eating well, and it's true that people do suffer from S.A.D. when serotonin levels are down, and being a Crohnie only makes you more depressed!
So roll on Summer! Bring it on!

Exactly Joan!! I'm ready for it! Get out the flip flops! :)

BUT, on the other hand if it gets really hot...which it can here...like in the 90's...then I am not so good and get what I call 'the hot poos!'.
