I was looking through some of the older posts here under " what is the cause of Crohn's" and I find it very interesting that a lot of people stated their crohn's started after they took antibiotics or after they had a bout of the flu( stomach bug I am assuming). I am just curious as to why researchers and the like will not look deeper into this, especially the whole antibiotic/gut flora imbalance being a likely culprit in the development of these bowel diseases?
I know there are tons of theories of what may be the cause of IBD, but it just seems like there are just too many people who have said theirs started after the use of medications( antibiotics). Also I wonder if it is because of something that is put into the medication that is causing this to happen as I do realize that in other countries where antibiotics are used in abundance, they do not seem to have too many people with Crohns.
In the last 20 years my GI doc did admit that there has been an influx of people visiting Gastroenterologists with all kinds of bowel issues. Something is happening for sure whether it be environment, foods, or even people being used as guinea pigs unknowingly in my opinion. Not just crohns disease either, I mean there are A LOT of chronic diseases that are beginning to pop up more than ever before. It just makes one wonder. Just wanted to know your thoughts on this? Does anyone else wonder about it??
