Hi,

Im Kristan and i've had CD since i was 11, im 20 now and it has been one crazy ride. But recently my lip has started to swell and I have no idea why? It only swells on the bottom right hand side and my mom thinks its related to CD. I need help, please let me know if anyone has any advice. Im also looking for and affordable insurance company to accept me since I have CD.

I've moved you to your own thread, you were stuck in someone else's.
I'm not sure about the lip thing, I'm sure someone will come and advise soon.

Crohn's Disease has many extraintestinal manifestations unfortunately. And many can affect the mouth and lips. Does what you have by chance look like this:

If not, could you give us a little more information?

Hello Kristan and welcome to the forum. Are you on any meds for your crohns and if so which ones? Do you have any other symptoms going on along with the swollen lip?

Thank you to all of you. @ ASTRA thank you very much I didn't know how to do that on my own. & yes i stay in US in georgia. @ DAVID no it doesnt look quite like that but its the bottom right side of my lip that is swollen. :/ @ ANGRYBIRD yes i take Remicade for my Crohn's but im hopeing to find something else that may work better. I was diagnosed with Crohn's when I was 11 therefore I cant remember all the meds I was on. although the end of esophagus was closing and I had surgery to open it back up with a balloon. If you guys have any more advice please let me know. Thank you all, it was a pleasure to meet you all

Hiya, it may be worth asking your GP to run a blood test to check all of your vitamin levels, it is common for us crohnies to be deficient in these and it could be a low level that is contributing to the problem with your lip. Is there a particular reason that you are wanting to change from the Remi? Are you experiencing other symptoms?

I've gotten lip numbness as part of MS. My esophagus is stiffening up do to neuropathy, and I have to be careful to chew everything carefully or it catches in my throat.

I use a handheld percussion, or shiatsu, massage machine on the trigger points in my face and neck and it seems to calm down eventually. I got it about a week ago on amazon, when my old one broke, for about $30. It is called the Handheld Percussion Massager Tapping Pro with Infrared Light.

What's also cool is the 4 red LEDs it has that are IR. They don't heat up until you hold them against your skin for a minute, but then they do, and the swelling where ever I use it goes down. It's a temporary effect, but I figure if I do it often enough, it will begin to last.
