Crohnsforum.com monetizing / selling my info?

Everytime i visit crohnsforum.com i get to see a chat-popup with a "doctor's assistant" chatbot for some shady Dr. Amir gastroenterologist.

What is this nonsense? I thought this was a non-commercial forum by Crohn's for Crohn's patients.

I had to block the script throught a firefox addon called noscript. For anyone interested, the script to disable is called justanswer.com.

I don't generally like blocking ads as sites like this wouldn't survive, but this one goes too far.

I just installed Chrome AdBlock Plus on my work computer because it kept popping up when I would try to click out of it. Fortunately, I'm able to block it using the "block element" function.

This was implemented by the owners of the site without discussion. Once I became aware of it I contacted them and am trying to get it removed. So far they said they will try and see if they can make it so it doesn't pop up more than once as it is a nuisance but to me it goes against everything the forum stands for. I understand the need for ads to stay afloat but as mentioned this is too far.

I was able to block it using Chrome AdBlock too.

Ads are ok, but this one is very invasive and annoying. I hope you are able to get it removed Jennifer. Fingers crossed!

I also got it blocked - thanks to those who suggested AdBlock on Chrome, that did the trick. It's seriously annoying and the fact that they didn't even inform Jennifer that they were going to do this, that really sucks. They're going to lose forum members over this.

Mobile version it's not there at all
But there are other ads
But not pop ups so not annoying

Desk version even in the phone has the annoying pop up that won't go away

I blocked it on my Chromebook using AdBlock. Works well. But my work computer I cannot install software myself. That pop up is really annoying. And i am not going to ask a unknown, online doctor about my condition when I have a good GI here.

Same complaint here when I type a response in a thread
It starts throwing my response into the "dr pop question box"
Beyond annoying
Second if we don't allow folks to come on here to sell items specifically to the members just because they are targeting Crohns
Why is it ok to place an"doctor" pop up ad on the forum where Ill people who are seeking help and support -may assume Crohns forum is endorsing as a medical expert .,..
This isn't a ad for a drug or some Radom items sold where it clearly states advertisement xyz

This is for medical advice directed at a community with known medical issues seeking help -with no disclaimer that the pop up doc is not endorsed by Crohns forum .

While we're on the topic, anyone know why cherrylakes.co.uk should be one of the scripts on the page? It seems to be some sort of UK fishing lodge - random!
