UPDATE: CT scan tomorrow!

I'm sure lots of you have had CT scans. First one for me tomorrow...crossing all fingers that it will bring some answers. Had a super rough day today pain wise, I could hardly even move - except to get to the bathroom of course. I have to get up at 6:30 am to drink the prep fluid which looks so delicious.

Hope for some answers!

Hello Kait
The prep is worse than the ct scan
The CT is quite fast and I found it quite a smooth procedure.
Good luck and hope everything goes well for you and provides some of the answers you are seeking.

HI there, I drank the liquid but just prior to the Ct scan and laid on my right side whilst drinking it, it was the "new" way to get it to the spot where it is needed. It wasnt too bad and not a whole lot to drink. Ct scans are easy, God knows I have had lots. Good luck! Let us know when you get the results which can take up to 2 weeks!

Well its early over here in the Eastern Time Zone. 6:40 am...been up for a few drinking my Barium Sulfate. Which doesn't taste awesome but isn't unbearable. But it for sure doesn't do wonders for the stomach. Scan in just a few hours!

Update:

CT scan went well. Pretty basic as far as testing goes.

In other news I was still dying of pain and so I called my GI's nurse right after and started bawling on the phone telling her about the pain and she squeezed me in for that afternoon.

Saw my GI, she took a look. She said I had a nasty rectal infection and my 3 hemorrhoids still looked "suspicious" to her. She put me on two different antibiotics and said unfortunately it can take 4-5 days for it to even start to clear up. (sigh) Then said my symptoms still look to her like perianal Crohn's. She had mentioned this awhile back but then no tests have shown any hard evidence of it. So now I have to go back in 2 weeks after my infection has cleared.

I also asked her if there was anything she could do about the pain because I literally couldn't do anything. I told her I had vicodin and codeine at home but both those painkillers wouldn't touch it. She prescribed Percocet. Today I took it for the first time and it cut the pain in half, which isn't phenomenal but I will take what I can get. The downside is I feel groggy and lightheaded and dizzy at times so it's not like I can take this and still function...but I don't know what else to do at this point.

Sorry to thread jack...but does anyone else have that puking feeling when they inject the die? On my last ct I actually vomited as the machine told me to breathe in

Im glad your ct went well! IMO stomach pains the worst :( hang in there!

I didn't have that feeling...however...when the technician was hooking up the IV she said I would feel super hot and like I was peeing. I thought she was joking with me but nope! I was pretty sure I peed my pants right there in the machine. The feeling passed after a few minutes and I realized I hadn't but it was the weirdest sensation!!

dye for the MRI's do the same when injected... feeling like your just peed everywhere.
GD - that is one of the side effects of a bad reaction to the dye. Did they go over those with you? I had to sign a paper afterwards saying I wouldn't hold them responsible if I did...I didn't have any bad reactions though...

Yes! I thought the same thing at my CT. I was like "psh, like I'm peeing myself." And then they injected it and it was like "OMGOSH did I just pee myself!?" Haha.

Yesterday I definitely felt like I wanted to vomit during my CT, but it was the combination of me vomiting whenever I ingest something/the nasty "grape" sludge they make you drink/the IV contrast. I didn't puke though (at least not until it was over) so I was proud of myself. I did ask her for a bucket which she gave me but took away when they started taking pictures.
