Hi everyone,
I've had IBS for about two years now. My GP ran a blood test and some sort of stool test and said I didn't have anything more serious than IBS. I manage pretty well by eating well, working out, and taking immodium on a pretty regular basis. Even though I do have chronic diarrhea, I consider myself healthy.
Earlier this year, I got a strange abscess on my leg. The docs weren't sure what it was and why it wouldn't heal since I'm young and have no serious health issues. Eventually, they removed it and sent it off to the lab. The results came back and said that it suggested "cutaneous Crohn's disease" and that I needed to be seen by a GI right away.
I have my first GI appointment later this week. My questions are, does anyone know anything about skin problems and Crohn's? I've tried searching but I can't find much. Also, what does cutaneous Crohn's disease mean?
I also want to know if I could have Crohn's if I'm not very ill. I do have stomach problems but I'm not as sick as I know a lot of people with Crohn's are. Can it be mild?
Finally, what can I expect at the GI's office? What tests will they run? Is there any easy way to rule out Crohn's? I know it can be hard to diagnose but is there an easy way to exclude it?
Thanks for all the help!
