Cyst on temple?

My little guy has developed a small (dermoid?) cyst over his left temple. This popped out in August, and his doctor today has referred him to a surgeon for evaluation/possible removal... ack. I am wondering if any of you have experience with this? Is it possibly related to his treatment? He is on 15mg weekly methotrexate/trexall, daily Pentasa and VSL#3, along with cyproheptadine for appetite stimulation.

Hi Jess, My son is on the same dose of MTX, but I'm sorry, I've not noticed anything like this with him. I don't know if it's treatment related. It's certainly not in any printed info I have on MTX. I hope you get some answers soon.

People with Crohn's often have skin problems. I have no idea if this is arising from the skin tissue but I suppose it could be an EIM. You could ask the surgeon. If it's a cyst it's not a tumor that could spread although I expect it can do damage if it's allowed to grow. You could ask the surgeon his opinion about the cause and they may biopsy it which may give more answers as to the cause.

I sincerely doubt it is a result of his meds.
