For the most part, I have not eaten the skin off of chicken since my resection almost four years ago. Yesterday, I had chicken wings with the skin and I seemed to be fine. Today, I had them again and this afternoon I am going to the bathroom a lot. Could I be having a delayed reaction or did I overdo ut?

Hi Ron,
My first thought would be, how many wings did you eat? I too had wings for the Super Bowl but only had 4 pieces of wing, not 4 whole wings. Maybe it's a volume issue.

I think the Broncos team had a bad case of IBS yesterday as they played pretty crappie.

Hang in there,

Mike :ylol:

You were surprised with Denver....we are all still waiting for the game to start. Oh well, like they all say, just wait till next year.

How do you know the symptoms are related to food at all? Sometimes we get symptoms independently of anything we eat or do. Sometimes any food will set off a reaction, regardless of what it is. I think you have to watch for consistent reactions (whether delayed or otherwise) before concluding a particular food is a problem. If you suspect the quantity of food eaten may be relevant, then you have to try the same with larger portions - test the food multiple times and watch for consistent reactions. But sometimes it just gets really complicated. E.g. if it's the fat content of the chicken skin that's causing the issue, you may be fine eating it if you don't have other fatty foods that day, but feel bad if you eat them along with other fatty foods. Sometimes it's better just to give up trying to figure it out and eat what you want. ;) If a food is really not good for you, the reaction will be obvious enough that you won't be in doubt.

My nutritionist has told me that you can do all the right things and still have trouble with your stomach.

Yes this is very true. It's ridiculous how some people try to tell you that you can manage a disease through diet. For some people it may be manageable through diet, but for many there is just so much going on outside of our control; we're not responsible for everything that's wrong with out health.
