Hey everyone! I have recently developed a rash on the side of my neck and the left side of my face. The derm did a biopsy and it came back as dermitis. She prescribed a topical corticosteroid cream. However, I don't feel like that worked well. What I did find helped clear it up a lot was sun exposure while wearing sun screen. I also have a rash and swelling on an area of the body that is not exposed to sun often. Biopsy results also suggested dermitis. The derm prescribed corticosteroid (topical) and an antifungal. That has not helped. Has anyone had similar experiences? I am also taking humira. Thanks!! :)

Does your doctor think Humira may be contributing to this? I don't have personal experience but wanted to bump your post in the hopes you get a response.

The dermatogist mentioned that he thought it might be humira. I think he is waiting for my GI to take a look at me as well. However, it's going to be months before I can get in. So in the mean time I get have this rash for a while.

i too have developed a rash on my face, but the only gi meds im taking right now are asacol. its red and bumpy and itchy. its been getting worse and i think im starting to flare as im getting tired, not hungry, cold, my joints hurt etc..... i havent asked the doctor about it, as ive had it before before i was diagnosed and it eventually went away.

I'm on humira and have dermatitis but I don't believe they ate related as I suffered from eczema in high school. Dermatologist gave me steroid spray and it did nothing. Not showering and avoiding alcohol based lotion helped. I went through a little flare of dermatitis now its calmed down and its just a few spots. I read on WebMD or Mayo clinic that if you have a parent with asthma or hay fever ( my dad) you are more likely too develop it.

Please, you really need to stay out of the sun even with sunscreen when on Humira! It causes strong reactions that go further than the skin my doctor told me. My skin freaked out on Remicade as well so I've spent a fortune trying to figure out what won't irritate me as well as what heals without prednisone cream.

What I found helpful was zinc oxide cream and zinc oxide sunblock Coppertone Sensitive Skin is my favorite. The cream requires a bit of blending but you look like you are fair skinned like me so it's not so noticeable. Try using Mineral makeup-I use Everyday Minerals-it's not expensive and they have generous samples you can try before you commit to a full size product.

Also check what you are using on your skin. I started using baby shampoo and castile soap, unscented. It cleared up a lot of my dermatitis right off the bat. It is good for your face, too but you need to use a good moisturizer. I use emu oil for this as it has natural anti-inflammatory properties, too. Hair spray is another culprit or anything with alcohol in it. Best wishes to you, and if you have any other questions please pm me! *hugs*
