Does the diarrhea ever get better or under control. It has been over a year for me that I run to the bathroom 15 to 20 times in the morning once I a wake
with only one meal eaten the day before. I even dread going to bed at night because of what I have to face the next morning.
Am I alone in feeling this way.

Definitely not alone there! It's almost as bad as vomiting! The urgency alone is what makes things difficult. Keep trying different meds and other things and you will make some progress.
good luck.

Oh yes, not alone at all. It has been five years for me now. And I wished it would be in the morning and not interrupting my sleep so often. Haven't found a solution yet either.

Daunting, are you taking Loperamide or Codeine Phosphate? Loperamide Syrup in particular gets into your system fast & maybe just what you need before you go to bed. Please ask your specialist because sleep loss over an extended period can start to affect your mental health.

If you don't have Short Bowel Syndrome then it can definitely get better. You have to make sure that you're on the right meds for your illness. Have you contacted your GI and let them know that you've been dealing with diarrhea for so long? When I first started taking 6MP my diarrhea went away. It has since come back and I do take Lomotil for it but honestly I don't think I'm taking the proper meds at the moment. I'm ONLY on 6MP for Crohn's and I don't think that's the best course of meds for me. I don't mind the 6MP but I should have something else on top of it. Sadly my GI has far too many patients because he's the only GI in the area so he's overbooked so I hardy get to hear from him. Hopefully your GI has a little more time than mine does so when you call, you can actually get a call back and get this issue taken care of.

Hi guys.

Thank you for your posts.

Presently the diarrhea is about 10 to 15 times in the morning and its seriously green. I contacted my family doctor who has prescribed limotil which I am scared to try, I don't want to get back up then have a day where I live in the loo emptying.
As for my Gi he knows, and he is incredibly hard to get a hold of, he is 2.5 hours away and his secretary is a realy scary. There is a Gi in our home town but he has no bed side manner and doesn't take the time of day to actually speak to the client, but you can see him anytime you want but i couldnt talk to him. I was thinking of going back not sure yet.

I think I would give it a go, or try & get hold of some Immodium/Loperamide from your Pharmacy. I dont know what the situation is in the US but I get Loperamide syrup on Prescription & its decent enough stuff & helps quell the diarrohea to a point.

Lomotil is a stronger version of Imodium. So there's no need to pick up any over the counter meds for diarrhea. I believe Grant suggested that you contact the local GI doc as well even though that doctor has no bedside manner he still may be able to help.

I'm currently taking Lomotil and I use the bathroom less often than you do. I figure if I have diarrhea, then I just pop a pill. I've never had an issue with being backed up. I only take it as needed rather than all the time. If it does become solid, then I don't take it again until its loose again. I'd suggest giving it a try and see how it goes. Be sure to wait at least 4 hours before you take it again unless your prescription says otherwise (mine says every 4 hours as needed).

Edit: Even if Lomotil does help you out, be sure to continue seeking help because its only masking the symptoms and isn't helping with the cause.

i also use lomotil. it works wonders for me. sometimes i have to take a million pills it seems like. and i always take a lot if im going in public for awhile because im afraid i wont make it to the bathroom! but the d has gotten better for me ever since i started remicade.. ALOT better. i was going 30+ times a day, had a blanket and pillow in my bathroom now i only get up maybe a few times during the night and have way better days with less d.
