I had my resection yesterday and surprisingly feel pretty good. My main symptoms were some structuring and occasional blockages. I had normal stools and overall felt ok.

Well after surgery, I learned they removed 20in of TI and an additional 80-85in more upstream that was strictured with scar tissue. That's a lot and I never thought it was that bad inside. That was about half of my smalls.

Got to walk today and feel pretty good except for complete body itch from pain meds.

"Are you on morphine?" ... cause you sound too happy :D

Just kidding. Glad to hear positive thought after surgery!

Yes I have a morphine pump. I mainly use before I go for a walk. Good news is that I pee'd in the nic of time to avoid the catheter going back in.

Are you drinking or eating yet? My bowels are grumbling but no gas yet. It's so hot and dry in this hospital that the little bit of water they do give me does nothing. All I want for Christmas is a fart

I was cleared for clear liquids yesterday, I've been drinking apple juice and broth very slowly. Before I was cleared I chewed gum and spit the saliva in a cup. My first bm was very bloody but has been less bloody every time since. Just make sure you don't rush anything through when you get cleared. Not to freak you out but my grumbling has been pretty painful.

Agree that the grumbling and gloating is not too pleasant. I passed gas this morning so sometime today I'll get more than a cup of ice.

Glad to hear you are doing good stickman. I live in Wheaton, IL so we are almost neighbors. Can't say I know what your going through, I was just diagnosed a month ago and got my first Remicade infusion yesterday. Spent 10 days this month in CDH with a flare that Steriods didn't take. Hope you get better!

We are all close together. I just got released this morning. My doctor is recommending I see Dr. Ruben at UofC. Well at least you are at the place to be. I hope everything is going well. Hopefully you will feel better and start getting more than ice soon. How far is Munster from UofC? I am excited to get down there.

It's right over the state line- took me 35min to get here Friday morning and about 75min if during rush hour. I was referred to Dr Cohen and Dr Hurst did the surgery.

I actually feel a lot better than I expected. I was released on the 16th so exactly a week in the hospital. I slept in the recliner the first night and moved to the bed after that. It took a couple of days to be able to start eating food in any real amounts but doing fine now. My BMs are normal and that was my biggest fear. I'm 12 days post and think that if I had a desk job, I could go back to work. How are you doing?
