I had a resection in December between semesters, and it hasn't been going well =\ The surgery was mostly to get rid of two fistulas, one connecting to my bladder, and the other to my belly button. Anyway.. I've spent over two weeks in the hospital and another two weeks with a home care nurse because of multiple wound infections and abscesses. Just when I thought all of that drama was over, I got a really bad flare which put me in so much pain, I couldn't walk.. and sent me to the ER again. At the ER, they did a CT scan and said they couldn't see anything and sent me home.. I called my GI, and he put me back on remicade the next day, which was really disappointing because I had been hoping to go off remicade before the flare hit. Anyway.. after the remicade infusion, I felt great.. but less than a week later, I was in trouble again =\ When I urinate, I feel so much pain in my lower right abdomen (which is where I always have pain).. it's pretty much the worse pain I've ever experienced, and I'm now scared of having to go to the bathroom.

I've had a fistula connecting to my bladder, which is (partly) why I had the surgery, and there would be minor discomfort during urination, but never anything like this. My first instinct was that my fistula had returned, but the CT scan (taken a week ago) showed that my abcess had gotten smaller, and they didn't see any fistulas (not that they necessarily would have noticed). My GI is telling me it's too soon to be getting a fistula back and gave me the usual crap about a UTI, which I know it's not a freaking uti. Anyway, I had a urinalysis, and I was told today that the results were normal.

I'm so discouraged.. I've been going back and forth for two months know thinking I'm better, and then having the life scared out of me thinking that the fistulas have regrown. I've been crying all day because I'm convinced the surgery was unsuccessful.. but I don't know what's wrong with me. I've never had pain like this before.

Has anyone had this kind of pain associated with crohn's before?

I've never had a fistula before so I don't know how one would feel but I do know that not all surgeries are successful. Perhaps there was more than one fistula, I don't know. Your GI should check you out to be sure. If they refuse to do anything what you can try to do is see your General practitioner and find out if they can run the test/s to see if you have any fistulas (let them know that your GI isn't cooperating) or unfortunately go to the ER again to see if they can run any tests and if not at least have that ER visit be a kick in the pants for your current GI or if all else fails, try to get a second opinion from another GI (long wait so try the GP and ER first and keep bugging your GI).
