Digestive Enzymes

Absolutely wouldn't be without them. Chloe notices a big difference in how her stomach feels when she forgets them. We saw a naturopath in the beginning who rexommended the Spectrazyme brand and told us not to run out. Right now we are taking the garden of life brand and we like that one too.

I am lactose intolerant and I take lactose digestive enzyme tablets on the rare ocassions I eat dairy. I've noticed that the enzymes didn't do very much for me when my illness was uncontrolled, and I'd still get a lot of pain and d after having something like pizza. Now that I'm in remission, the enzymes work a lot better for me.

I'm not well educated on the supplemental side of digestive enzymes (they may be fantastic, I don't know), but I do know one of the most important sources of digestive enzymes is your mouth. Chew the ever loving heck out of your food until you have a smoothie in your mouth, then swallow. The vast majority of us don't chew our food near enough so the particles going into our digestive tract are large and our saliva (chock full of digestive enzymes and other important substances) isn't able to do its thing very efficiently. Give this a read for a good starting point on the free digestive enzymes available to you if you slow down, chew, and enjoy your food :)

Buy now and I'll discount that 25%. Buy two and I'll throw in your pancreatic enzymes as well! :D

I take interfase digestive enzymes. Udo's digestive enzymes work incredibly well but were to harsh for my stomach :(

David, I completely agree with the chewing well, but for those of us who's Crohn's has affected our teeth, that's a bit of a challenge sometimes.

No doubt Cheryl :(

I didn't want to stymie the discussion of supplemental digestive enzymes with my statement. My apologies if I did that. I know very little about the supplemental form so hope those of you out there taking them or with knowledge of them will share what you know and your experiences.

No, you didn't stymie. That is advice I had heard before, more than once, it's very true, most of us eat too fast and don't chew well enough, it's a habit we get into, unfortunately. Probably starts with too short of lunch hours in school, not enough time to get there, get lunch and eat plus socialize. Then, of course, as we go on, life just gets busier.
